福斯河一瞥（via Wikipedia）

“Firth of Fifth”是Genesis 1973年经典专辑“Selling England by the Pound”中的第三首歌，也被认为是前卫摇滚史上最好的作品之一。歌名是对苏格兰的福斯河（River Forth）河口（Firth，即Firth of Forth）作的一点文字游戏。歌曲主题则大概是拟人化地描述一条河的一生，从中可以听到河流发源地潺潺的小溪（开头的钢琴intro）、化作瀑布时的汹涌澎湃（intro的强力再现），百转千回的河湾（Steve Hackett留名青史的大solo）以及汇入大海的开阔（最后的人声段落）。虽然，据说，词作者之一（另一位是贝斯手Mike Rutherford）和主要的曲作者、键盘手Tony Banks曾表示歌词是他参与写过的歌词里最糟糕的之一，可这并不影响这首伟大的作品。对我这样非英语母语的人来说，隔着语言的藩篱，倒还觉得与主题特别贴合呢。我第一反应能想起的、讲生命/河流的歌有三首：显然这一首最高；美空云雀的”川の流れのように（如河之流，中文通译为《川流不息》）”次之；汪峰老师嘛，我“化用”了他的标题，就不黑他了……

东京日比谷公园，Progressive Rock Fes 2016

上个周末我有幸在东京日比谷公园的Progressive Rock Fes 2016听了Steve Hackett的现场。Firth of Fifth是他的压轴曲（别再告诉我压轴是倒数第二了），九分半的时间里我数度泪奔。特别是到那段经典大solo的时候，声场极为开阔辽远，现场的震撼效果远远超越了专辑录音。正值日落，仿佛夕阳下的波光笼罩了整个东京。
